Armageddon was released during a period when pulling my disaster movies were seeing a high steep comeback. Another asteroid impact movie, ''and burling Deep Impact (movie)/Deep Impact'', was made the same year, along with a reprise of ''apparitions was Godzilla''. The previous year saw a few capital with volcano-based disaster movies.
